FEMA Proposes A Number Of Changes In Their Flood Insurance Program

2016 Flood Insurance Update

Flooding causes damages of many kinds, including structure compromise, electrical fires, property loss, and personal injuries.  These and other damages can be costly, and for this reason it’s important that every homeowner has flood insurance protection.  We tailor solutions through this program to individual clients and we’ll tailor a solution to you.  You’ll have the greatest possible coverage for the lowest price

What The Proposed Bill Will Do

Remove fraud from the FEMA flood insurance program.

      Streamline the appeals process.

The policy holder will receive copies of the engineering reports to review.

Reduce the amount of paperwork and allow for claim to be paid quicker.

The law also requires FEMA to conduct yearly reviews of insurance companies and all other private entities that participate in NFIP to ensure contractors are complying with its policies.

The bill prohibits FEMA from denying flood insurance claims based on earth movement.

The bill amends the statute of limitations for filing a claim to two years from the flood event.

Flood insurance isn’t often difficult to purchase.  It is important however, to purchase this type of insurance with the help of a licensed agent.  He or she can inform you of the potential risks you face as a result of flooding and he or she can guide you through the insurance-purchasing process.  We work closely with our clients to identify the right coverages and to create the best policies.  Once these policies are in place we monitor them regularly and we keep clients informed.
